Myasnikovich Mikhail

Biography

Born 6 May 1950 in the village of Novy Snov, Nesvizh region, Minsk Province

In 1967 he left the Snov secondary school with a certificate of honours. In 1972 he graduated from the Brest Engineering and Construction Institute, in 1989 — Minsk Higher Party School

He began his professional career in 1972 as a technical engineer at the State Research and Development Institute “Minskproekt”

1972 — 1973 military service  

1973 — 1983 worked as an engineer and on other executive positions at Minsk City municipal services  

1983 — 1986 Sovetsky District Administration Head, Minsk City Executive Committee Deputy Head, Minsk City Committee of the Communist Party of Byelorussia Secretary  

1986 — 1990 Minister of Housing and Communal Services of the BSSR  

1990 — 1995 Vice-Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the BSSR — Chairman of the State Economy and Planning Committee of the BSSR, 1st Vice-Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus  

1995 — 2001 Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus.  

2001 — 2010 Head of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. (President, from 2004 — Chairman of the Presidium)  

2010 — 2014 Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus  

27 December 2014 appointed a member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the 5th convocation, 16 January 2015 elected Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.  

Mr Myasnikovich was awarded the Order of Motherland, 3rd Grade (2000), Order of Honours (1981), Order of Friendship of the Russian Federation (2009), Order of Friendship of the People’s Republic of China (2010), Order of the Belarusian Orthodox Church of St Cyril of Turov, 1st Grade (2010). He has three Appreciation Certificates of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Certificates of Merit of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus and of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.  

Doctor’s Degree in Economics (1998), Professor (2003), Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (2009), Doctor h.c. of the Saint Petersburg State University of Economics and Finance (2008) and Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (2011)  

Married. Has a son, a daughter and three grandchildren
