Batura Boris

Biography

Born 28 July 1947 in Volkovysk Town, Grodno Province.

In 1970 Mr Batura graduated from the Order of the Red Banner of Labour Belorussian Polytechnic Institute (Industrial Engineer).

Merited Worker of the Services Industry of the Republic of Belarus.

Army Reserve Major General.

1987—1990 — Deputy Minister of Housing and Utilities of the Byelorussian Soviet Socialist Republic, deputy Chairman of Grodno Executive Committee. From July 1990 till June 1999 he was Minister of Housing and Communal Services of the Republic of Belarus. In 1999 he was appointed a Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus. Since November 2000 — Chairman of Mogilev Province Executive Committee.

Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the 4th convocation (2008 — 2010).

Chairman of Minsk Province Executive Committee.

Was appointed by the President of the Republic of Belarus member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the 2nd and 4th convocations. Was elected member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus of the 3rd convocation.

Was Deputy Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union of Belarus and Russia, Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the EuroAsian Economic Community, member of the Council of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, member of the Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Parliamentary Assembly and Chairman of the Council for Cooperation of Local Self-Government Bodies at the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus.

Awarded the title “Honourable Citizen of the Town of Mogilev”. 

Mr Boris Batura is awarded the 2nd and 3rd Class Order of Motherland, the Order of Honour, the Order of Commonwealth (Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States), the Jubilee Medals “90 Years of Belarus Army”, “65 Years of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941 — 1945”, “65 Years of Liberation of the Republic of Belarus from Nazi Invaders”, a Medal “For Cooperation” (Union State), a Gold Medal “IPA CIS. 20 years”, two Certificates of Honour of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, two Certificates of Honour of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, a Certificate of Honour of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Eurasian Economic Community, Belarusian Orthodox Church Order St. Kirill of Turov.
